By K. Conner On Tuesday, Jan. 19, the Bulldogs hosted the Page Sand Devils at Petranovich Gym for the season opener. From the start of the game both teams played as if it was a playoff game but not surprising as they often are both there. In the first quarter Winslow would end up leading 14-7 but this did come with one of their starters in foul trouble, with Dustin Richard having to sit out until the fourth quarter. Half time would still find the Bulldogs holding on to a six-point lead at 29-23. In the third quarter the Sand Devils would out-score the Bulldogs, making the score 47-47 at the end of the quarter. The fourth quarter was a battle, with the lead changing on every possession until the final two minutes when Winslow would regain and keep the lead with a final score 64-58. Leading scorer of the game was Page’s Dahneay Dugi, with 18 points including four three-point shots. Bulldogs Orlando Yazzie had 15 points; Tyrell Young, 13 points including one three-point shot; Chris Arellano, 11 points including two three-point shots; and Zane Corum with 10 points.
