basketball Winslow

By K. Conner Last Saturday, the Winslow Bulldogs went up against a much taller and bigger Gilbert Knight’s team. The first quarter would find Ayden Hoyt of the Knights shooting five three-point shots and giving the Knights a 18-9 lead over the Bulldogs. In the second quarter the Bulldogs would find a way to narrow the Knights lead to just six at the half by going to a man-to-man defense to help shut down the three-point shots, bringing a half time score 25-19. In the third quarter the Dawgs would continue to put pressure on the Knights, out shooting them 21-12 to take a 40-37 lead into the final quarter. The fourth quarter was a battle with the lead constantly switching between the teams until with two and a half minutes to go Winslow would get a seen point lead and spread the court to run out the clock, forcing the Knights to foul and Winslow would go to the line four times and keep the win. High scorer of the game was Gilbert’s Albert Wilson with 22 points and Ayden Hoyt 15 points, with five three-point shots. Winslow would have three players in double digits: Jeremiah Byjoe with 16 points; Zane Corum, 11 points; and Roy Billups, 11 points.
