By Greg Perkins Last week’s weather played havoc with area schools in terms of basketball and wrestling schedules. Most games in the area were postponed and rescheduled for later in the already shortened season. Joseph City boys’ team was unable to play last week but will be busy this week with three scheduled contests. Two of those three games will be the same opponent. After playing St. Michaels on Tuesday, the Wildcats will face the Cardinals again on Thursday. Due to St. Michaels does not have a home gym due to COVID protocols on the Navajo Nation, both games will be played in Joseph City. On Friday, the Wildcats will hit the road for a long trip to face Fort Thomas. Next Tuesday they are slated to host Mayer. Joseph City headed into this week’s action with a 1-2 overall record. Joseph City’s Lady Wildcats did see action last week with one game. That game was a 51-23 home court win over Northland Prep. Last year the Wildcats didn’t pick up their second win until their 10th game of the season. With Saturday’s 28-point victory over the Spartans they have now evened their season mark at 2-2 after just four games and will take a two-game winning streak into three games this week. Like the boys team, the Lady Cats will play St. Michaels in back-to-back home contests on Tuesday and Thursday. On Friday they will head to Fort Thomas as well. Next Tuesday the Lady Cats play host to Mayer.
