As expected, Joseph City had little problem moving its record to 2-0 with a 70-0 victory over Cibecue last Friday night.

The hometown Wildcats posted 32 first period points, then added 14 more in the second to lead 46-0 at the half. Just one score in the third was followed by two more in the fourth, ending the rout.

Remington Baldwin scored the first three touchdowns on runs of 43 yards, 27 yards and 52 yards to open the floodgates. Dallas Elmer converted the two-point run after the first and third scores, and passed for the second two-point run. Wyatt Bain scored on an eight-yard run to cap the first period scoring.

In the second, Josh Burt scored on a 48-yard run, then tacked on the two point conversion. Burt then found the end zone from 20 yards out to finish the second quarter scoring.

Burt completed his scoring with a 40-yard run in the third. In the fourth, Joel DeWitt scored on a 10-yard run and Conner Neal converted the two-point run. Neal then ended the touchdowns with a five-yard run and Colton Spurlock put on the final two points with the conversion run.

“We are right on track for the playoffs. The great news for us is that Jacob DeJesus just got cleared to play. He is a returning starter at linebacker for us. He is coming off surgery, so we are really excited about getting him back. He is one of the strongest players we have, so he will improve our defense a lot,” said Coach John Bryant.

The Wildcats will travel to Ash Fork tonight (Sept. 9) for what is anticipated to be another lopsided affair. However, next week archrival Mogollon is on the horizon. No one could blame the Cats if they look ahead to their home field match-up with the Mustangs.
