By Greg Perkins Joseph City had their season come to a close on Friday night in Heber with a 0-48 shutout loss to rival Mogollon. The 1A state bracket was released on Saturday. At the 1A level only eight teams advance this year to the state playoffs. The Mustangs are headed to the 1A State playoffs as the top overall seed and they are one of three unbeaten teams at the 1A level. They were simply too much for a struggling Wildcat team to handle this year. For the Wildcats, their 2-4 overall record wasn’t enough to get them ranked any higher than 11th, which is where they end their 2020 campaign. The 1A State playoffs begin on Friday with No. 1 Mogollon hosting No. 10 San Manuel. Other games include No. 2 Williams hosting No. 2 St. David, No. 3 Superior hosting No. 6 Anthem Prep and No. 5 Bagdad hosting No. 8 Tempe Prep. All semi-final games will be played at Coronado High School on Nov. 20-21. The 1A State title game will be played on Nov. 28.
