The Wildcats dropped both baseball games played last week moving their overall season mark to 1-4-1. Hosting Round Valley on Tuesday, the Cats scored nine runs but still came up short in a 14-9 loss.
Joseph City scored their nine runs on eight hits. Tyler Penrod led the way at the plate going two for four, with a RBI. Karter Lampsa was one for two, with a RBI double. Jay Edwards went one for four, with a double, had two RBI, stole one base and scored one run. TJ Westover was one for three, with a RBI and scored once. Avery Buckley went one for three, with a RBI. Playing in Sedona on Thursday the Wildcats really struggled in the first inning. The Scorpion scored nine runs in the bottom of the first and really put the game out of reach early. Both teams scored once in the second, and again matched each other in the third frame, with five runs apiece.
Joseph City outhit Sedona by one hit but their six hits weren’t enough to produce the necessary runs. Edwards went two for three, stole two bases and had a RBI. Beatty was one for three with a RBI and scored once. Lampsa was one for two and scored twice. Penrod went one for two, with a double, stole one base and scored twice. Latrell Kinlicheenie went one for two, with a triple, scored once and had two RBI.
Westover, Jacob Halbison, Lampsa and Penrod all pitched in the game and collectively gave up 15 runs on just five hits, with 11 walks and had only four strikeouts, two each by Lampsa and Penrod.
This week the Wildcats will hope to get back on track. After playing at St. Johns on Tuesday, they will have a week off to prepare for a home game with Mayer next Tuesday.
