The Sun Valley Indian School Warriors defeated Sequoia in both the varsity and junior varsity matches played Dec. 4. The varsity Warriors played a solid match, though Coach Kris Miller is looking for improvement in their next game. Sun Valley won the match 25-11 and 25-21. Aysa Benally really stepped up her game when the team needed someone to help overcome its struggles. Without her poise, serves and kills, the team might not have come out on top. With the victory the Warriors became the fourth seed, earning a home rematch against Sequoia in the post-season tournament. The jayvees also ended their season on a high note and got to .500, with an overall record of 3-3. The young Warriors lost the first game, 25-19, but won the last two, 25-17 and 15-9. Eligle Begay served the team home to victory in the second and third sets. Coach Miller looks forward to the jayvee players moving up next year, as their progress looks promising.
