Obit Cheney Timothy

Timothy G. Cheney, lovingly known as “Big Tim,” was born on Oct. 13, 1966, in Holbrook, to Robert and Rachel Cheney. He passed away surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love and family.

Tim graduated from Holbrook High School in 1985, where he was a standout athlete in wrestling, baseball and football. After high school he attended Central Arizona College.

He is survived by his three daughters, Ciara (Travis), Katie (Isack) and Carly; his seven grandchildren; his siblings, Nancy, Vicky and David; and his life partner, Betsy Koury. Through Betsy, Tim also embraced her children, Rosa (Juan), Daniel (Lucy), Sarah (Juan), Marcus (Reylina), Jordan (Jalesia), Anneke (Fernando) and Kiara (Angelito); and 19 grandchildren, all of whom he loved as his own.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rachel; his brothers, Richard and Robert; his sister, Rosalie; his nieces, Crystal and Kimberly; and his nephew, George.

A man full of life and joy, Tim enjoyed fishing, singing karaoke, dancing to country music, and sharing laughter and jokes with those around him. Above all, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

A celebration of Tim’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the American Legion. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join in honoring his memory.
