*Plainsman Sign Not only do long-time residents of Holbrook celebrate the history of the area, but historians, Route 66 enthusiasts and those looking for a taste of the Wild West also enjoy the community’s colorful past. The Navajo County Historical Society, which works to preserve not only photographs such as this one documenting the vintage Plainsman restaurant sign with the former Sun ‘N Sand Motel sign in the background, but also an accurate historical record, including documents and items of historical value, is holding its annual membership drive. The non-profit organization relies on memberships and donations to fund its efforts. For more information on how to join or donate, contact the society at 524-6558 or visit the historical Navajo County Courthouse in downtown Holbrook.
