The 36th annual Holbrook Parade of Lights will usher in the holiday season at sundown on Saturday, Dec. 9. This year’s theme is a Pixar Christmas, with participants invited to choose their favorite Pixar movie or short film to create and fun and unique theme for their float.
The grand marshals for the parade will be Holbrook’s Man and Woman of the Year, which were not announced as of press time.
There will be eight award categories including Santa’s Workshop, for large businesses; Santa’s Sleigh, for small businesses; Elf, for youth, family or individual; Jingle Bell, for dance groups and bands; Reindeer, for equestrian or other animal; Angel, for nonprofits, churches, civic groups or public agencies; and Rudolf, for best illuminated overall. Judging will take place at the corner of Hopi Drive and Navajo Blvd. during the parade, with awards to be presented at the Festival of Trees at the LDS Church following the parade.
Holbrook’s light parade is a tradition that provides a spirited kickoff to the holiday season. Spectators line the city’s main thoroughfares, Hopi Drive and Navajo Blvd., for the yearly event, which is sponsored by the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce.
