I’m Susan Cash, candidate for Navajo County Superintendent of Schools. After graduating from Snowflake High School I received my degree in education from NAU. I live in Snowflake with my husband Jason and son Eric. I teach eighth grade social studies at Show Low Junior High. I also taught at Snowflake Junior High. In addition to teaching, I have served in multiple leadership roles: school/district committees, coaching, sponsoring clubs, organizing community events, mentoring student teachers/new teachers and serving as a department head. With 29 years’ experience, I’m ready to share my passion for education with all of Navajo County.
As a candidate for County Superintendent of Schools, I recognize our students are the future – the heart of everything we do. My experience as an educator has taught me student success is dependent on three foundational pillars: educators, parents, community. My vision is to foster a county educational system where every educator is valued and supported, every parent is engaged, and every community member is a partner.
Teachers, administrators and school support staff are the backbone of our county’s educational system. I pledge to support and uplift teachers/staff by recognizing their critical role in shaping the future. Initiatives will include: professional development opportunities, advocating for competitive compensation and building upon our successes.
Parents are essential partners in the education of our students. I commit to fostering meaningful family engagement and collaboration to enhance student success. Strategies will include: transparent communication, parental involvement and family support services.
A strong education system is built on the foundation of community support and collaboration. Strengthening these connections will create a strong, unified approach to education. Focus areas will include: community partnerships, civic engagement and responsible fiscal management.
Together, we can create a robust education system that prepares our students for success in the 21st century.
