A Holbrook man convicted of brutally beating his mother to death in January was sentenced June 6 in Navajo County Superior Court.
Steven Clark, 34, was found guilty of first-degree murder and was committed to the Arizona State Hospital for 25 years in a sentence handed down by Judge Robert J. Higgins.
The incident occurred Jan. 22 when Susan Clark, 68, was at her home on Lizard Lane in Holbrook. She was violently assaulted by her son before escaping and making her way to a neighbor’s home, where police were called. She later died at an area hospital.
