A project to repave 10 miles of State Route 77 from the US 60 junction in Show Low to Shumway will begin Monday, Sept. 28, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The $4.2 million pavement improvement project (mileposts 342-352) will include the removal and replacement of the asphalt surface, guardrail replacement and shoulder buildup. The main paving portion of the project is anticipated to be completed by late November. The project will then be shut down for the winter and crews will return in early June 2016 to chip seal the roadway. Work hours will be sunrise to sunset, Monday through Friday. Paving will start at the northern edge of the project and crews will pave the four-lane sections first. While crews are in this area, traffic will be limited to one lane north and southbound. Crews will then start on the two-lane section where a pilot car and flaggers will be used to guide traffic through the construction zone in alternating directions. Drivers should anticipate delays of up to 30 minutes while crews are working in this area. Drivers are asked to use caution, watch for construction equipment and personnel, and allow extra time for their commute.
