Navajo County held a special mail-in election Nov. 5, with the following results as of press time.
On the ballot for Winslow was Proposition 422, a change in the city charter that moves general elections from May to November, bringing the City of Winslow in to compliance with state law. That proposition passed with 1,026 votes cast 823 in favor and 150 against and 53 left blank.
The other ballot items were school district overrides. Winslow, Joseph City and Blueridge school districts all asked voters to extend tax overrides that will continue funding for programs in those public schools. Winslow cast 1,358 votes in the district election and passed the override 873 in favor and 349 against, with one ballot marked both in favor and against and 135 blank votes. Joseph City cast 495 votes and passed its override with 349 for and 146 against. Blueridge had 3,111 ballots and denied the override with 1,642 against and 1,464 in favor, with one ballot marked both in favor and against and four left blank.
These results are still considered unofficial until they are canvassed by municipal and county governments.
