The Lady Lobos split two games played the week before last, picking up a 48-29 win over Blue Ridge in Lakeside, then falling on the road at Winslow, 57-39.
The Snowflake squad started well on Jan. 17, outscoring the Lady Yellowjackets 16-4 in the first eight minutes. In the second Blue Ridge netted 13, but the Lobos still held a 28-17 halftime lead. Snowflake put the game out of reach in the third, then cruised to a 19-point victory.
Nikita Olms led the Lobos in scoring with 18 points. Emily Ballard and Madison Butler added 6 each; Elle Flake, 5 and 15 rebounds; Shanae Stratton, 5; and Bailee Flake, Breklee Tanner, Camaria Reidhead and Jessica Neff, 2 each.
Snowflake made 2 of 12 three-point shots and went 6 for 7 at the free throw line.
Snowflake defeated Winslow in overtime prior to the Christmas break, but their return match-up with the Bulldogs didn’t go quite as well. Winslow jumped out to an early 15-4 advantage. Snowflake trimmed three off the lead in the second, but still trailed 27-19 at the break. In the third Winslow doubled up the Lobos in scoring and took control of the game.
The split gave the Lobos a 13-10 overall mark and put them at 5-8 in power point games ranking them 15th. They were also tied with Winslow for second place in the East Region standings, with both teams two games behind Holbrook for the top spot.
A road trip to Show Low on Tuesday will be followed by the regular season finale at home against Blue Ridge on Friday, Feb. 3.
