Darrell Mosier has returned to the sidelines for the Lady Wildcat volleyball team. After several successful seasons in the past, Coach Mosier will once again look to return the Joseph City squad to the post-season. Lisa Lampsa will be assisting him this year.
Currently, the Lady Cats have seven seniors on the roster, including Tacye Baldwin, Haley Edwards, Katherine Hutchens, Arianna Kissling, BreeAnna McCormick, DeAnna Penrod and Kassidy Richards. They are joined by junior Leigh Neal, and sophomores Kinsley Lampsa and Callie Tuckfield.
Those playing on the junior varsity team at this time include Taylor Fields, Savannah Kinlicheenie, Hailey Rush, Tarrah Fish, Annalise Castellano, Callie Pugh, Shyla Jesmer, Saige Flake, Kailyn Naranjo, Rebecca Spurlock, Tenea Kissling, Kyndal Mitchell, Taylor Yazzie, Jessica Jesmer, April Petersen, Karnie Peterson, Naleigha Hutchins and Sari Murdock.
“We are expecting Haley Edwards to have a good year. She spent much of the summer in the weight room and is jumping much higher than last year. Leigh Neal is coming off of a broken wrist and is a very versatile player. I will be able to use her in multiple roles,” said the coach. “Kinsley Lampsa had a great season last year and will play large roles this year as a setter, hitter and she has a vicious serve. Callie Tuckfield transferred from Utah, and brings experience to our program.
“Even with seven seniors we have much to work on. Mogollon and Ash Fork are tops of the conference right now. We have much to do to be at their caliber.”
Joseph City is slated to begin the season against rival Mogollon on Tuesday, Aug. 29, in Heber.
