The Roadrunner baseball team didn’t start the season the way they had hoped dropping their first game of the season at Chino Valley on March 2 by a final of 11-1 in five innings of play.

The Cougars posted two runs in the bottom of the first, then tacked on three more in the second. That scoring trend continued through the rest of the game with the home team adding two more runs in each of the third thru fifth frames. Their second and final run in the bottom of the fifth ended the game under the 10-run rule after Holbrook had scored their only run of the game in the top of the fifth.

Holbrook scattered four hits in the game with two players accounting for the four hits. Jesse Knight went two for three with the team’s only RBI. Destin Baur was two for two and scored Holbrook’s only run of the game.

Holbrook did finish with four stolen bases, two by John O’Brien and one each from Marcus Oberriter and Izzy Ramos.

Adrian Aguilera started the game on the hill and worked three innings. He allowed seven runs on three hits with five walks and struck out three. Izzy Ramos worked one inning giving up four runs on one hit with a walk.
