By Greg Perkins Holbrook’s boys soccer team is scheduled to close out their season on Wednesday (today) when they host St. Johns on Senior Night. The Roadrunners have just two seniors on a very young team with Simon Lui and Preston Edwards being the only upper classmen. Holbrook is 0-5 and will not make post season play. Last week they played very tough in a 2-3 road loss at St. Johns on Wednesday night. Edwards suffered a season ending injury, leaving the Birds a little shorthanded for Saturday’s home match with Show Low, which soundly defeated the Roadrunners 11-1 after scoring three goals in the first five minutes of the match. The Lady Roadrunners also have just one match left on the season. First year head Coach Victor Paz has the team playing hard but they are still searching for that elusive first win. Wednesday’s road game in Show Low will be their final chance this season. Holbrook is 0-7 on the season. However, like the boys team they have a young team to build on for the future.
