The Birds took control of the game in the first outscoring the host team 14-0 in the period. In the second, Holbrook again found the end zone twice but did give up one Wildcat touchdown to lead 29-8 at the half. Coach Holley’s team blanked Chinle again in the second and found the endzone twice more building their lead to 43-8 with one period left. In the final stanza, both teams scored once leaving Holbrook with a comfortable win.

This week the Birds should easily move their record to 6-0 when they travel to Pinon for a Thursday night varsity tilt. The Eagles are 2-2 and coming off a 34-8 win over Many Farms on Friday. They were shut out by Alchesay in week two, which may give the Birds a barometer on what to expect from the Falcons in two weeks when Alchesay makes a visit for homecoming.
Holbrook enters this week at 5-0. Morenci, Camp Verde and Alchesay are currently the only other unbeaten teams at the 2A level. Five teams have just one loss. With the initial power rankings being released on Tuesday, Holbrook should expect to find themselves comfortably inside the top ten in the 2A rankings.
