Holbrook traveled to the Valley over the weekend to participate in the Ben Franklin Thanksgiving Tournament.
The Birds had four scheduled games beginning with Leading Edge on Friday afternoon. Holbrook won that game against the 2A Spartans 62-43. That win was the only one the Roadrunners would get in their four games.
Thursday night they fell to a then unbeaten 3A Seton Catholic team by 3 points 59-56.
Saturday morning Holbrook faced 2A powerhouse Scottsdale Christian. The private school is traditionally loaded with recruited talent and this year is no exception as they defeated Holbrook 68-34.
Holbrook’s final game of the tournament was with another 2A school Fountain Hills. The Falcons were in 3A just a couple of years ago but due to declining enrollment they have moved down a division. They are still talented and handed a young Holbrook team a 49-38 defeat.
Holbrook is now 4-3 on the season and enters a busy stretch in their schedule. Wednesday, they host St. Johns. Saturday will be a trip to Round Valley and then Monday, Holbrook will host Chinle. From Dec. 11-13, Holbrook could play six games over three days at the Round Valley Tournament.
