Football Holbrook

Sitting in the 27th position of the 3A rankings and needing to reach at least the 24th position to qualify for the 3A state play-in games, the Holbrook Roadrunner volleyball team will need to win at least two of their four remaining matches, then might still need some outside help.

Holbrook played just once during fall break, losing on the road at Payson in three games on Thursday. The Roadrunners have just two regular season wins thus far and they will need at least two more to make the post season. The good news is one of their two wins came against Winslow, which is where they will be playing on Tuesday night. Holbrook will host top ranked Snowflake on Thursday. Their final two regular season matches will be at Blue Ridge next Tuesday, and at Show Low next Thursday.

At this point it looks like wins over Winslow and Show Low will certainly be needed if Holbrook wants to make the post season. An upset win over either Snowflake or Blue Ridge would also help their cause.

Winslow headed into this week ranked 23rd and they have a tough schedule ahead, having already lost to their four remaining opponents this year in previous matches. Their Tuesday match with Holbrook is essentially a playoff match for both teams with the winner still having hope, while the loser might be on the outside looking in when the final 3A brackets are released.
