With just six games left in the regular season, Holbrook’s baseball team needs to pick up wins in order to advance to the post-season. The Roadrunners entered this week ranked 32nd in power points, well behind the top 24 positions, which is where they need to be to qualify for the post-season. They have a mixed bag in their remaining games with Mogollon and Globe on the docket for this week. The Birds will host the Mustangs on Thursday, April 16, and the Tigers the following day. In the final two weeks of the season they have tough matchups with Blue Ridge and Winslow, and lesser bouts against Alchesay and St. Johns.
Playing in the Wolves Classic in Goodyear last weekend, the Roadrunners went 1-3 in four games. On Thursday they fell hard to Buckeye, getting shut out by the Hawks 16-0. Friday morning was the highlight of the weekend for the Birds when they defeated Snowflake 6-2. That afternoon they fell to Poston Butte 11-1, then on Saturday morning they closed out the tournament with an 8-7 loss to Youngkers.
The Roadrunners entered this week with a season record of 10-10 and were 6-6 in power point contests.
