Holbrook went to Window Rock on Friday night in search of a much-needed first win of the season, and they got it, outlasting the Scouts 20-16.

The Roadrunners started quickly, with Drayden Baldonado connecting with Nathaniel Chatto on the third play of the game for a 78-yard catch-and-run. Baldonado ran in the two-point conversion, and Holbrook led early 8-0.

Baldonado picked up his second score of the night late in the first half, finding Myles Nockideneh for a short score, giving Holbrook 14 points at the half.

Early in the fourth quarter, Holbrook’s final points of the game came on a 12-yard rushing score from Baldonado.

Holbrook’s Sophomore quarterback finished the night completing 8 of 17 passes for 199 yards with two touchdowns. He also carried three times for 17 total yards with a third score.

Ordell Laughter led the ground attack with 61 yards on 21 attempts. Roman Candelaria gained 27 yards on two runs. Jeremiah Ross rushed four times, picking up 9 yards.

Nathaniel Chatto’s 78-yard touchdown reception led all receivers in yards. Myles Nockideneh caught three for 43 yards with a score. Dustin Tsabetsaye had one 38-yard reception. Adian Stump had two catches for 31 total yards. Kevin Brock had one 9-yard grab.

With the win, Holbrook moved their season mark to 1-3. They are scheduled to host a struggling Wickenburg team for Senior Night on Friday. The Wranglers have low numbers and are playing an independent schedule this year with only six games as they try to rebuild what was once a solid program.

They have played just two games this year with a 44-0 win over Greyhills in week one, and a 16-52 loss to Hopi on Friday night.

The Wranglers have forfeited once this season due to low numbers.

If there is a game, the Roadrunners should be primed to put together a two-game winning streak before traveling to Pinon on September 25th.
