Holbrook’s trip to Alchesay on Tuesday night started poorly and that pretty much remained the theme of the contest throughout the game with a final score of 60-44.
Alchesay built a 17-4 lead midway through the first quarter, eventually ending the period on top 25-8. Playing in front of a large fan base, which helped to warm a really cold gym, the Falcons kept the pressure on in the second quarter building a commanding 48-16 halftime margin. After netting single digit points in the first two quarters, the Roadrunners scored better in the third with a 13-point output. Josiah Freddie was responsible for five of those with one short-range field goal and one from distance.
Jaren Jackson made three of his four charity tosses in the period as well. With a running clock in the final frame the two teams combined for only four points, but the outcome had long since been decided.
Holbrook was led in scoring by Freddie who finished with 11 points. Terrence Kelly added 6; Eric Baldonado, 5; Emerson Begay, 4; Tynen Thomas, 3; and Jackson helped with 3. Holbrook made just two three-point field goals and connected on eight of 12 charity tosses. Alchesay countered with seven long range shots and made good on three of five charities.
With the loss, Holbrook falls to 4-2 overall and they are now 0-2 in power point regular season contests. After playing in the Round Valley Tournament last weekend, the Roadrunners hosted Chinle on Tuesday night at Tony Munoz Gym.
