Abigayle Nez paced all Holbrook runners at the Shane Morris Invitational meet held in Lakeside on Saturday. Competing in the girls varsity race Nez finished 16th overall with a time of 22:27.50 in the 101 runner field. Kiah Demuth placed 22nd in 23:05.7; Ellie Smith, 57th; Talynn Spencer, 61st; Cierra Long, 63rd; Dezbah Yazzie, 70th; and Jordan Platero, 78th.
Holbrook’s girls team finished in seventh place with 213 points. Flagstaff won the meet with 44, followed by Ganado with 72, and Coconino in third with 80.
The boys’ team title was also won by Flagstaff with a combined 22 points. Zuni was second with 60 and Ganado placed third with 147. Holbrook finished 14th in the 18-team field.
Holbrook’s top runner was Hayden Mike who placed 45th with a time of 19:39.5. Damian Clark was 53rd; Jonathan Black, 82nd; Kaleb Smith, 93rd; Nicholas Begay, 96th; and Kalub Trujillo finished 114th in the 119 runner field.
In the open or JV division Ethan Denetso finished 27th, Eliase Rockwell was 65th, and Shane Halwood was 124th.
