By Greg Perkins Holbrook’s soccer teams have started their respective seasons. The boys’ team coached once again by Tony Aguilera is 1-1 through two matches. Holbrook opened their season on Sept. 1 with a trip to Payson where they fell on the turf by a final of 8-2. This past Saturday they quickly turned things around with an impressive 9-1 mercy rule win over visiting Page at Roadrunner stadium. The eight-goal margin and mercy rule win were both firsts for the Roadrunner soccer program. Holbrook scored five first half goals, then tacked on another four in the first 20 minutes of the second half. Holbrook will have played host to Snowflake on Wednesday the 8th, then will play at Blue Ridge on Sept. 15. The Lady Roadrunners, under the direction of second year head coach Victor Paz played well in Payson for their first game of the season on Sept. 2. Holbrook fell 3-1, but that was a much closer game than previous years. Kelly Hill scored Holbrook’s first goal of the season, but it will certainly not be their last goal this year.
