Holbrook’s boys and girls basketball teams will open their seasons on Monday night, Nov. 25, when they host Chinle at Munoz Gym.
Last year the Lady Roadrunners finished the season as state runner up with a loss to Page in the state championship game. The team returns several players from that roster but they know they have a lot of work to do in order to make a return trip to Phoenix in February.
Holbrook’s boys team also made the post season a year ago but they were upset by Coolidge in the first round of the state tournament. Like the girls team, they have returned key pieces from that roster, plus added some new faces that will make them a better team.
Both the boys and girls teams will scrimmage the Warriors in Tuba City this Friday. The boys team will play in the Ben Franklin/Gilbert Christian Thanksgiving Classic over the Thanksgiving Break. They will play their second tournament of the season in Round Valley which begins on Dec. 12.
The Lady Roadrunners will have their first tournament in Round Valley and their second will come in January when they compete in the 70-plus team Chandler Prep Tournament.
