By Sam Conner The Page Lady Sand Devils defeated the Winslow Lady Bulldogs 62-46 in the sectional tournament at Chinle last Thursday. The win improved Page’s record to an outstanding 26-4. Winslow fell to 15-16 for the season. Four of Winslow’s losses were to Page, and three were to New Mexico teams in the Gallup Invitational Tournament. Page defeated Chinle for the sectional championship on Saturday, 52-38. Chinle defeated Monument Valley 71-64 to earn its berth in the finals. The Sand Devils held a narrow 11-9 margin over the Bulldogs at the end of the first quarter, but expanded it to 26-18 by the half. The lead was 45-34 after three quarters. Ashley Dempsey led all scorers with 17 points for Page. LeLisa Watson added 14 for the Sand Devils and Myka Taliman scored 10. Danielle James led Winslow with 16 points and Adrianna Singer added 10. Winslow will be in the state championship tournament against an opponent to be named later.
