Blaine Hatch of Holbrook, Northland Pioneer College’s vice president for Administrative Services, was one of three recipients of an Outstanding Chief Business Officer award presented by the Community College Business Officers (CCBO) during the community’s annual convention held Sept. 20-23 in San Antonio, Texas. Hatch oversees financial services, human resources, facilities, transportation, maintenance, and the nine campus and center operations for NPC. A key member of NPC’s executive team, Hatch serves on many critical committees at the college, and was instrumental in preparing and presenting a master facilities plan. “Blaine’s great integrity, ability and wisdom make me look like a good president every day,” remarked Dr. Jeanne Swarthout. “I depend on him for sound advice in all college and external matters. He is always working to move NPC forward and better serve our students.” Since joining NPC in December 2000 Hatch has been active in the Arizona Community College Business Officer Council, serving in multiple leadership positions, and has accepted major responsibility for joint reporting and survey information for the 10 Arizona community college districts. He serves as a financial panelist for the Higher Learning Commission, NPC’s accrediting agency. He is also a board member of the Arizona School Risk Retention Trust, the Navajo County School Employee Benefit Trust and the Petrified Forest National Park Museum Association. Hatch is a former Holbrook Chamber of Commerce board member and former Rotary Assistant District Governor. He serves in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is involved in multiple activities for the Navajo Nation. Hatch was nominated by his peers for the award. Other recipients of the Outstanding Chief Business Officer award were Mary Alice Gibbons from Skagit Valley Community College in Mount Vernon, Wash., and Sonny Sparks from Holmes Community College in Goodman, Miss.
