The 84th annual Navajo County Fair is close at hand, and promises fun and entertainment for the entire family. The fair is scheduled Wednesday through Sunday, Sept. 16-20, with a schedule packed full of events.

Area residents have been invited to participate by entering their produce, flowers, photos, crafts, cakes, cookies, pies, jam, collections, artwork, quilts and more in the fair. Exhibits are to be dropped off at the Navajo County Fairgrounds in Holbrook from 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, or from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14. Entry forms and fee information are in the fair books, which are available at local businesses.

For residents unable to make the trip to drop off entries to the county fairgrounds in Holbrook, area chambers of commerce are offering to help. Residents may drop off their entries (with the exception of animals, flowers or plants) on Monday, Sept. 9, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Winslow Chamber of Commerce, located at 523 W. Second St., and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Snowflake/Taylor Chamber of Commerce, located at 113 N. Main St. Entries will be brought to the fairgrounds later that day.

Events taking place at the fairgrounds include the always entertaining Demolition Derby, the Navajo County Junior Miss Pageant, live musical entertainment and midway performers. The carnival is another family favorite, and discount wristbands are on sale for $18 for 10 rides now through 12 noon on Sept. 16 at the fairgrounds office, located at 404 E. Hopi Drive in Holbrook.

Along with the new events are the old favorites. At the top of the list is the Navajo County Fair Rodeo featuring numerous events in a rodeo sanctioned by the Ram Rodeo Series and the Grand Canyon Pro Rodeo Association. Other rodeo events during the fair will include slack, the Little Buckaroo Rodeo and the Ranch Rodeo.

Also offering fun and entertainment will be the Junior Livestock Show and Auction, Open Class exhibits, 4-H small stock, 4-H exhibits and the 4-H Horse Achievement Show, midway and stage entertainment, bands, great food and much more.
