By Greg Perkins Holbrook joined 49 other teams on Sept. 4 at the multi-divisional PEAKS invitational meet held at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff. The Roadrunners competed in the Ascent Division and placed sixth as the boys’ team and the girls’ team finished 10th. Holbrook’s boys’ team was paced by Namath Gene who won the individual crown of the Ascent Division with a time of 17:51. There were 142 runners competing in the race won by the Holbrook senior. Damon Attakai was sixth; Kenneth Nez, 49th; Leyton Tom, 69th; Loren David, 79th; Myles Williams, 97th; and Truhelio Begay was 123rd. For the Lady Roadrunners, Abigayle Nez was the top finisher crossing the line in eighth place overall with a time of 22:09 over the 3.1-mile course. Raelle Yazzie was 48th; Sara Billy, 60th; Zandrian Lutse, 91st; Shandelariah Footracer, 92nd; and Samathay Billie placed 100th.
