Holbrook Junior High School students Mylee Demuth and Damon Attakai won the girls’ and boys’ 12 to 13-year-old divisions of the Arizona Elks Hoop Shoot contest held Feb. 11. They will now compete at the Western Region Finals scheduled on Saturday, Feb. 25, in Las Vegas, Nev. Both represent Holbrook Elks Lodge No. 2450. Both Mylee and Damon made 22 of 25 free throws, but Damon was tied with another shooter in his division. In a shoot-off, Damian made 5 of 5 to win the state title. Mylee is a three-time state champion and advanced to the National Finals last year. Damon was also a state champ in 2013. The regional semifinals are some of the most exciting Hoop Shoot contests around.
