Mindy Moyle has resigned from her position with the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce, handing board members her resignation letter during their March 8 meeting. Moyle has been serving as the interim executive director for less than a year and noted that she valued her time working with the chamber but that she had accepted a position with Holbrook School District.
Moyle noted that March 17 would be her last day with the chamber and recommended former executive director Billie Anne Miller as a replacement. The board will consider her recommendation and also advertise for the position within the next two weeks prior to making a decision.
During the meeting the board unanimously approved the budget for the upcoming Wild West Days in the amount of $13,100. President Yvonne Larson explained that last year’s event had $1,850 profit and projected this year’s profit to be around $2,000. In charge of Wild West Days entertainment will be former board member Cindy Tafoya.
Members of the board agreed to pitch in for a get-well-soon card in response to the recent home-invasion attack of former Navajo County Treasurer Manny Hernandez. SEI Realty, for which Larson is a realtor, will also provide a restaurant gift certificate to accompany the card.
Board Secretary Jeff Johnson let members know about the St. Patrick’s Day Potato Buffet taking place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 17, at Peace Lutheran Church, located at 105 Svenson Drive. The price is $5 per person for a family of four or more and $8 for individuals. The board also discussed the upcoming quilts and art show to be held as part of the Holbrook Art Series from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 17, in the Open Class Building at the Navajo County Fair Grounds, located at 404 E. Hopi Drive.
April is Happy Holbrook Month and chamber is encouraging local businesses to decorate their storefronts. Kicking off Happy Holbrook Month will be a Battle of the Bands on April 1 at the Roxy Theater. The board discussed the possibility of the winner being among performers at the Wild West Days.
Barbara Olear reminded members that the United Methodist Church, located at 118 W. Arizona St., is hosting a Bunny Fun Day from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 8.
