The Lobos cruised through last week, winning all three games with ease and pushing their power point mark to 8-1.
Tuesday’s home game with visiting Cibecue was over quickly as the Lobos jumped out to a 27-3 first period advantage. That margin gradually grew in each period until Snowflake claimed the 76-43 win.
With the big margin for most of the game several Lobo players saw significant playing time. Ty Reidhead and Braccin Tanner led the way in scoring with 11 points each. Reggie Peterson added 10; Doug Brimhall, Jake Shumway and Rick Shumway, 8 each; Tanner Yellowhair, 7; Landon Godfrey, 5; and Dustin Baldwin and Chase Walden, 4 each.

Playing in Whiteriver on Friday night, the Lobos swept the boys’ three games with the freshmen, junior varsity and varsity all taking wins from the Alchesay Falcons.
The varsity squad held a nine-point lead at the end of the first break and maintained that cushion at the half. A solid third period left the Lobos with a comfortable advantage and led to a 72-54 road win.
Walden had a huge game, netting 29 points to lead the Lobos. Dallin Merrell added 9; Yellowhair and Jake Shumway, 8 each; Tanner, 6; and Rick Shumway, Baldwin and Petersen, 4 each.

Saturday’s road game at Show Low resulted in another big win for the Lobos. Snowflake started slower than usual, yet still led by 15 points at the half, thanks in part to a good defensive effort. A huge third period really put the clamps on the Cougars and led to a 65-29 rout in what used to be a very competitive matchup between the two schools. In recent years, however, this rivalry has become a one sided affair in Snowflake’s favor, at least in basketball.
Ten different players scored for the Lobos, led by Jake Shumway with 13. Walden added 12; Peterson, 10; Yellowhair and Brimhall, 8 each; Rick Shumway, 4; Merrell and Baldwin, 3 each; and Reidhead and Tanner, 2 each.
