basketball Snow

With their state football championship run behind them now, the Lobos and their fans have turned their attention indoors for basketball season.

Snowflake understandably, started slowly in their first two outings with losses to Valley Christian on Nov. 30, followed by a 73-30 home court loss to Chinle on Tuesday last week.

However, after playing in the Pepsi Tournament held in Flagstaff over the weekend it appears the team may have found their basketball legs. Snowflake won their first three games of the season and their first three tournament games.

Thursday, they took care of Lee Williams by a final of 62-35. Returning to Flagstaff Friday morning they took care of San Tan Charter with a 73-51 final outcome. Friday afternoon they won a squeaker over San Tan Foothills by a final of 79-77.

That win advanced them in the bracket where they met up with a very good Paradise Honors club. The Panthers outlasted Snowflake 86-74. The Lobos’s final game of the tournament was another close outcome with a 52-55 loss to Pima on Saturday afternoon.

This Thursday they will return to regular season action with a trip to Tuba City on Thursday to face the Warriors. Friday, they return home to host Northwest Christian in what will be their final game before the Christmas holiday.
