The Lobos football team continues their dominance in the 4A Desert Sky region, picking up their second straight lopsided victory on Friday night with a 62-7 thumping of Combs for their 12th consecutive region win dating back to the 23-24 season.
Snowflake jumped all over the Coyotes, scoring seven touchdowns in the opening 12 minutes of the game. They tacked on 2 more in the second and led 49-0 at the half. With a running second-half clock, they cruised to the big win.
Special teams started the scoring with a blocked punt returned for the first score. Brenner Green scored on a 40-yard run. The defense scored the third touchdown when Ryder Williams scooped up a Combs fumble and returned it 12 yards for a score. McCoy Norton made all 3 extra points, and all three facets of Snowflake’s team had points on the board in the first quarter.
Jacob LaDuke connected with Colter Willis for a 25-yard score. Green scored again, this time from 23 yards out and the Lobos ended the first quarter on top 35-0.
Early in the second, Green found the end zone again, this time from 64 yards away. LaDuke found Eli Willis for a 35-yard scoring toss and Snowflake led 49-0 at the half.
Maverick Greer scored on a 5-yard run in the third, and Otto Mills ran one in from 70 yards out in the fourth, ending the scoring with the Lobos on top 62-7.
LaDuke completed 6 of his 7 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns. Eli Willis caught two passes for 67 yards and scored. Colter Willis caught 3 passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. Mason Raban had 1- 3-yard catch.
On the ground, Brenner Green led the way with 136 yards and 3 scores on just 5 runs. Mills racked up 134 yards on 6 carries and scored. LaDuke carried 4 times, gaining 22 yards. Beck Johnson carried twice for 14 yards, and Maverick Greer had 1- 5-yard touchdown run.
This week, the Lobos are expected to continue their march through the region with a home-field matchup with Eastmark on Friday night. The Firebirds enter with a 4-3 record, including a 13-14 loss to Poston Butte last Friday.
Considering Snowflake’s 42-7 win over that same Bronco team two weeks ago, this week looks like another easy win for the Lobos, who should cruise to an 8-0 record and remain on top of the 4A rankings.
