By Greg Perkins Snowflake’s Lobos continued to roll toward the post-season as they posted three victories last week. Last Wednesday they dominated Tuba City, 82-51. Jordan Gardner finished with 17 points and nine boards for Snowflake. Trey Schneider also netted 17. Ty Pawlick added 14; Kegan Bjornn and Dallin Chapman, 8 each; Tyler Claridge, 7; Kurt Wood, 5 and 15 assists; Garson Hatch, 4; and Jake Lyman, 2. Thursday night the Lobos welcomed in the Alchesay Falcons and their large following. That big crowd was sent back to Whiteriver with a 79-53 loss. Chapman hit four treys on his way to a 15-point performance for the Lobos. Bjornn added 14 with nine rebounds. Claridge had 13 with three treys. Jordan Gardner finished with 12 points. Wood handed out 11 assists and scored 7. Schneider also netted 7; Pawlick and Lyman, 4 each; and Hatch, 2. The Lobos’ third straight night of action ended with a third straight solid win. Playing in Glendale they defeated the Cardinals 75-59. Another balanced scoring attack for Snowflake featured six players scoring between 9 and 12 points, which is what will make them another tough out in the upcoming state tournament. Schneider led the way with 12 points; Pawlick and Gardner, 11 each; Wood, 10 with 12 assists; Claridge, Bjornn and Chapman, 9 each; and Lyman, 4. Snowflake headed into the final week of the regular season ranked in the top three in power points and depending on the outcome of Tuesday night’s game with Window Rock, the Lobos will finish as either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed for the section tournament, which begins next week. They are unbeaten in section games this year and the Scouts have just one loss. The Lobos will wrap up the regular season at home on Friday night, Feb. 5, when they host North Canyon. In a strange schedule twist, the Lady Lobos will also host their regular season finale on Friday, although their opponent will be Many Farms. The Division Ill Section I tournament will be held in Chinle next week. Regardless of Tuesday’s outcome Snowflake will get a first round bye and won’t play until in the semifinal round on Friday, Feb. 12. The boys’ opening round section games will be played on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The championship game will be Saturday night, Feb. 13.
