The Lobos soccer team made quick work of visiting Round Valley in their only action last week. Hosting the Elks on Wednesday evening, Snowflake managed to score 12 goals in the first 60 minutes of the match which ended under the mercy rule at the 20-minute mark of the second half under the mercy rule.
That win moved Snowflake’s regular season mark to 4-2-2 overall. The first power points were released last week and the Lobos are sitting in the third overall position heading into their final four regular season games. With all the mid-season tournaments now behind them, Snowflake can focus on finishing the regular season on a strong note. After hosting Blue Ridge on Wednesday this week, they will travel to Payson on Monday next week. That will leave them matchups with just St. Johns and Round Valley in the final two weeks to wrap up the regular season. In boys’ fall soccer the top eight teams qualify for the postseason. The Lobos are in a great position to claim one of the top four places overall in the bracket.
The Lady Lobos opened the rankings in the third overall position just like the boys team. However, in girls fall soccer only the top six advance to post season play.
The Ladies played twice last week suffering a 7-1 home field loss to Northland Prep on Tuesday. They bounced back with an 8-2 win in Holbrook on Thursday over the Lady Roadrunners. With that split Snowflake heads into this week with an overall record of 5-2-1. Like the boys team, they have four games left. They will play at Round Valley on Tuesday, then have a full week off to prepare for a home tilt with Blue Ridge on Oct. 11.
