Snowflake played well despite losing both games played last week. Those losses, to top ranked Blue Ridge and third ranked Winslow, really didn’t hurt the Lobos in the big picture and they were still ranked seventh at the beginning of this week after playing two highly ranked teams.
On Tuesday night the Lobos battled top ranked Blue Ridge down to the wire before coming up just a single point short in a 75-74 loss. Snowflake led through the third period but fell behind in the fourth. The game came down to the wire before Blue Ridge handed the Lobos the one point loss on their home court.
Dylan Ervien led Snowflake in scoring with 16 points. Taden Flake added 14; Dylan Kay, 11; Garrett Wood, 9; Jake Christensen, 8; Miles Bahe, 6; Trever Willis, 5; and Jared Fusselman also netted 5.
Snowflake shot the ball well from distance connecting on eight three-point shots with Ervien counting for four of those.
Hosting third ranked Winslow on Friday night the Lobos again played well but came up short in a 67-61 loss to the highly ranked Bulldogs. Wood did his part finishing with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Ervien added 17; Kay, 8; Christensen, 5; Bahe, 4; Flake, 3; Willis, 2; and Kolton Solomon helped with 2.
After hosting Payson on Tuesday, the top 10 Lobos will play at Round Valley on Thursday, then travel to Holbrook on Friday. Snowflake entered this week with an overall mark of 12-11 and they were 8-5 in regular season contests.
