By Greg Perkins Snowflake brought home a gold ball in football this year and based on the first week of the hoops season they are poised to be a serious threat to repeat that effort in basketball. Andy Wood has his team off to a 3-0 start with their average win margin being just over 36 points per game. The Lobos opened up last Tuesday with a 65-19 home court win over Chino Valley. Hosting Round Valley two days later they again put on an impressive defensive performance holding the Elks down in a 61-25 home court win. Picking up two home court wins was impressive enough but when they hosted Safford on Friday they again won by a large margin of 76-48, showing how much promise this team has in the early stages of this shortened COVID season. This week the Lobos will open east region play when they travel to Show Low on Tuesday. On Thursday they will host Holbrook. Two more wins would get them off to a 5-0 start plus give them an early leg up in region standing. Next Tuesday the team will host Blue Ridge.
