Snowflake’s split in their final two regular season games earned them enough power points to remain in the top eight in the final rankings, giving them a first round bye in the 3A state tournament, which begins on Wednesday night with seeds nine through 24 in action.
The Lobos won 71-62 against Show Low in a game played at Blue Ridge on Tuesday night of last week. Playing at home for Senior Night on Friday, things didn’t go quite as well with the Bulldogs taking the game 66-52.
That split left the Lobos with an overall season record of 18-11. They finished the regular season with a mark of 12-6.
Snowflake will host Wednesday’s winner between No. 24 Tanque Verde and No. 9 San Tan Foothills on Saturday night. With a win, the eighth seeded Lobos would more than likely meet up with top ranked Page on Feb. 25 at Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott. Page would have to defeat either No. 16 Coronado or No. 17 Fountain Hills to advance to Prescott. From this point on any loss ends the season for all teams.
The semi-final rounds and state championship games will be played at Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Feb. 28 and 29.
