By Greg Perkins Snowflake is headed to the 3A State playoffs once again after picking up their sixth win of the season in a 30-0 shut out road win in Payson in their regular season finale on Friday night. Things started slowly for both teams who traded punts on their first possessions ending the first period in a scoreless tie. The Lobos third possession saw them put together a long drive culminating in an 11-yard touchdown run by Terren Green for the first points in the game midway through the second period. The point after attempt was no good leaving Snowflake with a 6-0 lead. Late in the first half Green found the endzone for the second time, this one coming from 18 yards away. Sam Crockett made good on the point after giving the Lobos a 13-0 edge. Snowflake’s defense got a quick stop then the offense managed to move into field goal range in the final minute. Crockett’s 32-yard field goal extended Snowflake’s lead to 16-0 at the half. Snowflake’s defense picked up in the third where it left off in the first half, forcing a Longhorn punt on Payson’s first second half possession. The offense clicked quickly with Green getting the hat trick, this time scoring from 43 yards out. Crockett’s point after kick made the score 23-0. Camden Brimhall scored the Lobo’s final regular season points on a 46-yard run late in the game giving Snowflake the 30-0 win. Caden Cantrell had an efficient night completing nine of 13 passes for 156 yards. Noah Baum had 69 yards worth of receptions on three catches. Nick McVicker had four catches totaling 51 yards. Snowflake wrapped up the regular season with a record of 6-1. This week they will open the state playoffs on their home field as the #2 overall seed. They will host #15 Dysart on Friday night.
