The Snowflake Lobos suffered their first two losses of the season at the Pepsi Invitational Tournament in Flagstaff last weekend, but not until moving their record to 7-0 with wins in the first two rounds.

Prior to the tournament Snowflake took care of business in an all important regular season game at Blue Ridge, defeating the Yellowjackets 62-49. The Lobos jumped on top quickly, then gradually built on that cushion throughout the game.

Tanner Yellowhair led Snowflake in scoring with 18 points. Chase Walden added 10; Reggie Peterson, 9; Jake Shumway, 7; Rick Shumway, 5; and Dallin Merrell, Dustin Baldwin and Braccin Tanner, 4 each.

Playing in the first round of the Pepsi tournament on Thursday, the Lobos took care of Baboquivari, 66-30.

On Friday, they beat a good Dysart team, 79-50. Walden led the way with 21 points. Yellowhair added 11 and Reggie Peterson helped with 9.

On Saturday, the Lobos suffered their first loss of the season falling to a very good Flagstaff team, 51-45. Yellowhair led with 16 points and Peterson added 9.

Having used up most of their energy in that loss, the Lobos had to turn right around and play Copper Canyon from Tucson just an hour later and fell short 73-59. Walden led the team with 12, Jake Shumway added 11 and Tanner scored 9 in the loss.

The Lobos are 7-2 on the season. After playing at Payson on Tuesday, they will host Holbrook on Monday, Dec. 19, in their final game before a long Christmas break.
