Snowflake’s football season gets underway in two weeks with their first game scheduled at Bradshaw Mountain. The Lobos move into their second season at the 4A ranks after back-to-back state titles in the 3A. The move to 4A didn’t slow their championship game appearances as they advance to the 4A title game before falling to ALA Gilbert North.
The Lobo volleyball team dominated last year, going 16-1 in regular season matches before winning the state title. The majority of those title-winning players remain on the roster this year, so expect another deep playoff run by the powerful Lobos. They open their title defense on Aug. 23 when they host Tuba City. Thatcher will be the opponent the following day. Snowflake defeated Thatcher in the state semi-final round last season.
Snowflake’s boys soccer team went 7-3-2 last season. Head Coach Kegan Kay will start his season this week with the Lobos hosting Northland Prep on Wednesday. They will remain at home on Aug. 22 and 23 to face Chino Valley and Sedona before playing in the Payson tournament on the 25th and 26th.
The Lady Lobos soccer team went 8-2-2 last season before falling to Chino Valley in the first round of the state tournament. This Friday they will see that same Chino team in their second game at the Payson Longhorn Invitational Tournament. Friday’s first game will be against the host team Payson. On Saturday they are slated to face Northland Prep and Blue Ridge.
Snowflake’s first regular season match will be on Aug. 22 at Chino Valley.
