The Lobos had a rough week, dropping both games against East region opponents.

Last Tuesday Snowflake faced the Yellowjackets in Blue Ridge and lasted just five innings before losing 13-2. Things looked OK through the first inning, with the Lobos trailing by just a run, but in the second they gave up six runs to the Jackets and five more in the third put the game out of reach.

Snowflake matched the Yellowjackets with five hits a piece, but six Lobo errors and five stranded base runners kept them from keeping the game closer.

Trevor Reddick got the start and took the loss on the hill. He worked just two innings, facing 16 batters. He allowed eight runs, only six earned, on four hits with one strike out and five walks. Tanner Yellowhair pitched two innings against 15 batters. He gave up five runs, only one earned, on one hit with three strikeouts and three walks.

At the plate Yellowhair, Reddick and Josh Kelley each went one for three. Ricky Montejano was one for two with a walk and scored a run. Josie Dunn also scored a run.

On Friday the Lobos were outplayed in nearly every facet of the game, getting shut out by the Longhorns, 16-0.

With the two losses the Lobos currently stand at 7-15 on the season and they head into the final week of the regular season ranked just 20th in power points. They are the fourth ranked East Region team, and will need to either finish in the top 16 in the rankings or at least third in the 3A East Region Tournament next week to qualify for the state playoffs.

They finish up the regular season with a doubleheader at Ganado on Thursday, then host Show Low on Friday in the final game of the regular season.
