By Greg Perkins Both Lobo soccer teams have positioned themselves for post-season play. The boys team finished the regular season with an 11-0 home field win over Basis School from Flagstaff on Wednesday. That win moved them into the seventh overall position in the final rankings and has them facing second seeded Chino Valley on Wednesday of this week in the quarterfinal round of the 2A state playoffs. Snowflake will travel to Chino Valley to meet up with a team they have not yet seen this year. The Cougars posted an 11-1 season record with their only loss coming to Phoenix Country Day in late September. With a win the Lobos would face either No. 3 Blue Ridge or No. 6 Willcox on Friday at Campo Verde High School. A loss would bring Snowflake’s season to a close. The Lady Lobos also have earned an extension to their season. They are one of four teams who will be playing in the conference play in tournament on Tuesday. Snowflake finished the regular season with a record of 6-5-1 thanks to a 1-1 tie with Show Low last Tuesday, followed by a 4-0 win over Blue Ridge on Wednesday. Those wins moved Snowflake into the sixth overall ranking and they will face No. 3 Northland Prep on Tuesday in Flagstaff to see if they can advance into the semi-final round. If the Lady Lobos can advance they will be in the semi-final match played on Friday afternoon at Campo Verde High School.
