Big plays early in the game set the Lobos up for their third consecutive shut out victory on Friday when they prevailed at Kirtland Central 37-0. The Lobos have yet to give up a single point while running their record to 3-0.

Tanner Willis started things early scoring from 64 yards out on the Lobos first offensive series. Minutes later Trey Schneider hooked up with JT Tate on a 99-yard catch and run and the rout was on. Near the end of the first period Zach Solomon scored on a 66-yard run pushing the margin to 20-0.

In the second period Tanner Willis scored on the defensive side of the ball returning a Bronco interception 48 yards. Teagan Peterson added a 40-yard run of his own later in the period, and he capped the first half scoring with a 24-yard field goal. Peterson was also good on 4 of 5 extra point attempts.

After a long weather delay at halftime, neither team scored in a quickly played second half, leaving the Lobos with a 37-0 road trip home.

Trey Schneider completed just 2 of 5 pass attempts for 123 yards and a touchdown. JT Tate’s 99-yard reception for a score was joined by Tanner Willis who had one catch for 24 yards. Snowflake controlled the ground game as well piling up 327 yards. Zach Solomon carried 10 times for 129 yards and a score. Tanner Willis rushed for 105 yards and a score on only 6 attempts. Teagan Peterson gained 54 on 3 runs and also scored. Luke Patterson picked up 16 yards on one carry. Trey Schneider gained 12 yards on five runs.

Leon LaGrange led the defense with 12 tackles. Zach Solomon added 8 and Teagan Peterson finished with 7. JR Fox had 2 sacks and Steven Brimhall had one.

After spending the last two weeks on the road, this week the Lobos return home to host Thatcher on Friday night. The Eagles are also 3-0 on the season with wins over Willcox, and Benson, both shut outs, and a 20-14 win over Safford last week. This will be Snowflake’s toughest test to date, but they should still be the team leaving Friday night with a perfect 4-0 mark. Question is, will their shut out streak come to an end?
