The Lobo boys’ soccer team is positioned nicely for the upcoming 2A fall soccer state tournament. They entered this week ranked sixth in power points and only need to remain inside the top eight to advance to postseason play. Currently, their regular season record is 5-3-2.
Snowflake’s final two regular season matches come against No. 23 St. Johns on Monday and No. 20 Round Valley on Thursday this week with both matches played on the road. If the Lobos can win both matches which they are expected to do they will be in the eight-team bracket when the state tournament begins on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the site of the higher seeded team.
The Lady Lobos enter this week ranked third in power points, with their 7-2-1 regular season mark. They have a tougher final two games than do the boys team. They will host fourth ranked St. Johns on Tuesday this week, then will travel to take on No. 11 Camp Verde on Thursday.
In girls soccer, only the top six teams advance to post season play with the top two teams earning a first round bye. If Snowflake can win both matches this week, they should easily remain in that number three spot when the post season begins on Thursday, Oct. 27.
