The Lobos split their two final regular season baseball games last week, leaving them ranked No. 16 in the power point standings. They were slated to open the state tournament against No. 17 Camp Verde on Tuesday afternoon at the Surprise Baseball Complex. If they get past the Cowboys, they will face top ranked River Valley at 7 p.m. on Friday, also in Surprise. An upset win there would put them into the quarterfinal round on Saturday afternoon. A loss in either game would bring their season to a close.

Hosting Holbrook last Tuesday, the Lobos avenged an earlier season loss to the Roadrunners, although it took one extra frame to get the job done. Snowflake led by two at the end of the first, then battled to tie the game at 5-5 through two innings. They pulled in front with a pair of runs in the fourth only to see Holbrook knot the game in the fifth. At the end of seven the score remained tied at 7-7. Holbrook moved on top with a run in the eighth, but the Lobos took advantage of a Roadrunner miscue and scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to secure the 9-8 win.

Holbrook counted for 11 hits, while the Lobos pounded out 13 in the win.

Braccin Tanner went three for four with a double and two RBIs. Tanner Yellowhair went three for three with a triple, a stolen base, an RBI and scored three runs. GR Adams was two for four with a double, two RBIs and scored once. Josh Kelley went one for three with a sacrifice and two RBIs. Freddie Pinkley went one for three with an RBI and scored once. Hunter Peterson was one for three and stole two bases. Ty Reidhead went one for three, stole a base and scored once. Ricky Montejano went one for five, reached once on an error, stole a base and scored twice.

On the mound, Tanner worked five innings, facing 26 Roadrunner batters. He gave up seven runs, six earned, on eight hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Jarom Beecroft pitched three innings, facing 13 batters. He allowed one earned run on three hits with two strikeouts.
