As expected the Lobos had little problems dispatching Winslow on Friday night. Snowflake scored three touchdowns in each of the first and second quarters, and let their defense dominate the Bulldogs throughout the game pitching a 48-0 win after holding a 41-0 half time cushion.
The Lobos held the Bulldogs to just 65 yards passing and only 152 on the ground. Jace Merrell and Leon LaGrange both led that defense in tackles with 12 apiece. Jade Bjornn did his part as well with 11 takedowns. Snowflake recorded three sacks in the game with Caleb Uchytil, JR Fox and Jade Bjornn each collecting one. They also intercepted Winslow three times and recovered two fumbles forcing a total of five turnovers on the night.
On offense things ran smoothly. Traegon Standerfer completed four of five passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Trey Schneider was good on all five of his pass attempts for 90 yards and three touchdowns.
JT Tate caught four balls for 80 yards and a score. Teagan Peterson had one 34-yard touchdown reception. Trenton Hatch had two catches for 18 yards with one score. Tanner Willis had one 17-yard scoring catch. JR Fox also had one catch for 17 yards.
On the ground 13 different Lobos carried the ball piling up 258 rushing yards. Zach Solomon did the most damage gaining 103 yards on just seven attempts with one score. Bradley Smith gained 64 yards on five runs with a score. Teagan Peterson also carried five times for 64 yards and scored once.
This week the top ranked Lobos now 6-0, will host an improving Payson team. The Longhorns are just 2-4 on the season but played Show Low very tough last week in a 43-34 loss. Snowflake has owned the Longhorns in recent years including last season’s 49-7 win. Payson is rapidly improving, but life in the East region is tough, and with back-to-back games against Show Low and Snowflake, their outlook isn’t good. Snowflake should roll to a 7-0 record setting up their huge showdown in three weeks with Show Low.
